S. crop conditions for corn, wheat, and soybeans were all lower compared to last week’s crop conditions.
U.S. corn crop conditions decreased by 3% to 64% g/e this week, continuing the lowering trend of last week’s diminishing g/e
condition rating. Last year’s conditions this week were 59% g/e. On a state-level basis, KS saw the largest improvement,
jumping 6% g/e, followed by MO up 3%, and IL up 2%. TX and ND remained unchanged. Decliners included PA falling 13%,
NC and OH down 9%, KY down 7%, MI down 6%, MN down 5%, TN, IN, and IA down 4%, WI down 2%, CO, NE, and SD all
down 1%.
U.S. corn silking advanced to 100%, up from 97% last week. U.S. corn denting is at 26%, up from 14% last week, and
compares to 58% last year and 47% avg. IL is 29% vs 74% last year and 63% avg, IA is 13% vs 55% last year and 40%
avg, and IN is 22% vs 55% last year and 46% avg. U.S.-wide corn doughing improved to 68% from 49% last week, vs 88%
last year and 82% avg.
U.S. soybean crop conditions declined by 1% in combined good/excellent this week at 61% and compares to last year’s crop at
this time of 55% g/e. Only five states had a increase in crop conditions. AR increased 4% g/e, IL and LA increase 2%, MO
and ND increased by 1%. Decliners included NC down 12%, MI and KY down 9%, OH down 7%, TN down 5%, IN and WI
down 4%, MN and NE down 3%, IA down 2%, KS, MS, and SD all down 1% g/e.
Soybean pod setting update of the season showed the U.S. at 88% vs 75% last week and 94% avg. IL is 92% vs 95% avg,
IA 89% vs 98% avg, and IN 78% vs 92% avg.
U.S. spring wheat conditions decreased this week by 1% in g/e to 55%. MT was down 3% g/e this week, ND and ID were
both down 1%. MN was up 4%. SD and WA were unchanged.
Spring wheat harvest is 61% complete, up from 35% last week, and compares to 83% last year and 72% avg. ND is 62% vs
68% avg, ID is 33% vs 62% avg, MN is 45% vs 73% avg, and WA is 56% vs 83% avg.
